The story behind this piece
Sergeant majors are the cheekiest fish on the reef — black-and-white striped, absolutely fearless, they'll escort you around like you owe them money. The zebra beads are them, the black strand is the deep water behind, and the gold shell is the coral head they were all defending. I paid my toll in bread crumbs as a girl.
